Tourism in the surroundings

If Montant is a place to stay among the tourist attractions, Montanejos is 5 minutes away from the beach.

Montanejos is the most important tourist destination in the area. It is very connected to its natural environment and its beautiful thermal waters.

It currently has an offer of more than 800 accommodation places, with only a population of about 600 residents.

Waters and relaxation. Montanejos.

- Fountain of the Baths. One of the main attractions. Its natural hot springs have a constant temperature of 25ºC throughout the year. It is a perfect place to swim and relax in a stunning natural environment.
- Montanejos Spa. Water brought directly from the spring called “Fuente de Baños” is used. The Spa is located within the town of Montanejos. Its dedication to tourism dates back a long time, and causes significant demographic variations to be recorded, going from approximately 400 inhabitants in winter to more than 5,000 in summer. - Mijares River. It offers privileged bathing areas where young and old alike enjoy its crystal-clear waters.

Nature and hiking.

- Hiking. Montanejos has numerous hiking routes that vary in difficulty. Some popular routes include the “de la Bojera” path, el La Maimona canyon , and PR-CV 126 route.
- Short circular routes. Around Montanejos there are different hiking circuits for the whole family, such as the route to “Negra” cave and Chillapájaros o the Familiar path.

Adventure activities.

Climbing. The area is famous for its rock walls ideal for climbing. There are various climbing routes for all levels.
Water and adventure sports. In addition to swimming in the hot springs, you can enjoy activities such as kayaking, canyoning in the Mijares River or via ferrata in Chillapájaros.

Historical and cultural heritage.

Alquería Castle. Although in ruins, this castle offers insight into the region’s history and panoramic views of the surroundings.
Castle rute. Church of Santiago Apóstol. An interesting example of religious architecture in the center of town.
San José Bridge. Built in 1803 on the Montán River, it has a structure of three semicircular arches and is made of stone.

Black Eyes greenway. The Ojos Negros Greenway is one of the most attractive greenways in Spain to explore by bicycle. Although in ruins, this castle offers a glimpse into the history of the region and panoramic views of the surroundings. Back Eyes route.
Cerdanya Cave (Pina de Montalgrao). One of the most beautiful caves to visit in the Valencian Community and very easy to access. The route that leads to the cave has spectacular views.
Machine gun nests (Puebla de Arenoso). We can find several machine gun nests from the Spanish Civil War, some reconstructed. The views are spectacular. Route to the Machine Gun Nests. You can also go on a guided tour with the Montanejos Tourist Train.
Pools in Cirat. Through the Barranco de las Salinas there are these 9 pools, from La Bañera to La Caldereta you can enjoy its fresh and extremely clear water. More information.
Street Art: A free open-air museum is approximately 40 minutes away by car: MIAU «Museum of Unfinished Urban Art». More than 160 murals are scattered throughout the streets of Fanzara, created by artists from all over the world who have come to paint their works to the delight of everyone who visits the village.
